Any grown ex-rebelious teens out there Why were you so rebelious! The kids that didn't rebel-Why not??

Just super curious? I definitely went through a serious wild child time in my life. I was never into drugs-alcohol yes-but never drugs. I also(sad to say) was a bit promiscuous. I believe my behavior is linked to my mother leaving when I was 3 and my Dad was an alcoholic and a very angry man. I feel like I was trying to fill up a void be acting out. Now I am a mother and don't want my kids to go down the same path. Those of you who tried drugs/alcohol or where is other ways self destructive-why do you think that is?? Those of you who really tried to follow parents rules and behave- Why?? Any gems of wisdom your parent gave you to help you make the right choices??
