Please help us find...?

My husband & I would like to find a church we are both comfortable with. He grew up in a very strict Judeo Christian cult like church and I grew up a "non practicing Catholic". Neither of us adhere to what we grew up with but are struggling to find something we are both comfortable with and would like to raise our son in (18 months old). Some of our personal beliefs go against more conservative churches but I am drawn to the traditions of Catholicism. My husband does not want our son raised in the church he grew up in but doesn't feel comfortable in a Catholic church. Do you have any suggestions of a place where we could both be comfortable, fit in, and be accepted?
