Question about Inception plot *spoiler warning*?

I thought the same as stupidestcow - that the windmill shows Fisher Jr how his father really felt about him. Although your suggestion that it is a totem is sort of plausible but not wholly. All the other totems (spinning top, loaded die, chess piece, etc...) fit in the pocket so I umed you had to gave your totem on you at all times and the windmill isn't exactly pocket sized and Fisher Jr doesn't take it with him (it's in a safe that's in the third level of dreams (at least I think it's the 3rd where they break into the building and into the safe where Fisher Jr sees his father)).
