Would you trust an illiterate,ex prison mate with your newborn child?

my mom married a guy who cant read or write, who was in jail for 10 plus years for smoking and dealing meth,weed,etc. They used to make up off the wall stories about me behind my back and all of a sudden now that im having a baby they want me to contact them all the time. I told my brother today in secret that i don't want Daniel holding my newborn child and i asked him not to repeat those words, my brother is 27. well he wrote me an email tonight saying mary, mom and daniel want to know why you don't want daniel holding your baby? I was so upset that he told them that! Now my question for you is would you trust an ex con,complete idiot who cant even speak right and has no respect for you with your newborn child?
