Do women/young ladies still wear Corsages?

I realize that I sometimes like to hang on to the past, but yesterday I went to the florist to purchase a Corsage for my Granddaughter. The less than kind clerk behind the counter, had no idea what I was asking for. Upon trying to explaining, she informed me that this arrangement would be way to heavy and that if I insisted, a single rose bud attached to a ribbon that tied around the wrist was what is in style. #1 what has happened to selling what the customer ask for and what they want. Cheap ribbon setup, rose fell into the toilet, what a waste of money.
